Overview

The statistics for Native women are shocking: they face murder rates up to 10 times the national average, murder is the third leading cause of death and they are routinely the victims of sex trafficking. In South Dakota, a group of Indigenous women from all over the country gather to ride motorcycles to end this crisis of missing and murdered Indigenous women. The Medicine Wheel Ride brings Indigenous women together to honor those they have lost and to support each other in sisterhood because they are their sisters’ keepers.
