Erik Boomer

Son of an Idaho judge and younger brother to Division I college football and wrestling stars, Erik grew up tough and well loved in the western U.S. When his true passion manifested on the wild rivers of the Snake and Salmon, his family let him leave the beaten path of traditional sports in pursuit of some of the most hair-raising whitewater descents since Al Faussett floated over 100-foot waterfalls in a hollowed-out log 100 years ago. Boomer took it a step further in a plastic kayak, and then he met Sarah McNair Landry. Ever since, Sarah’s home in the Canadian Arctic has been his workplace and playground, joining her for 14 years on inspiring and audacious kiting, climbing, kayaking and dog sledding missions. He co-directed ¡Ay Chihuahua! (Mountainfilm 2025).
